Progress in 2010

Following the cold snowy start to the year, and with the hard work of gardening volunteers, the garden began to flourish in spring/summer. Several events have been held at the garden to publicise the work of the Ridgeline Trust and to encourage further volunteers.

Whiteknights Studio Trial Sat 19th and Sun 20th June
The garden hosted an exhibition of children’s art produced by the pupils of Alfred Sutton and Redlands Primary Schools. Visitors made art, poetry or any other garden-inspired response at the event and helped to weave a banner celebrating the WST’s special anniversary year.

East Reading Festival at the Ridgeline Trust – Sat 3rd July
There were arts and crafts for children (such as potato printing), a nature trail, a fruit/veg/plant trading stall, recipe ideas for seasonal produce. People were invited to wander around the garden and have a picnic.

Harvest Fete Sun 26th Sept

To celebrate the harvest, there was plenty on offer: a seasonal produce, homemade jams and chutneys stall, ice-cream sodas, dig your own potatoes, children’s wood workshops, tug of war and an Eat an Onion challenge!
