Enjoying the fresh fruits of our labours
Lots of the vegetables planted earlier in the year are ripe for harvesting, so today we took the opportunity to sample a selection. Everything was picked this morning, so we couldn’t have had fresher food! We managed to dig the potatoes before it became too hot. We were able to sample potato salad with onions and herbs, peas and beans, yellow courgettes cooked with tomatoes, and even some edible borage and marigold flowers.
There’s a lot of satisfaction to be had from eating something you’ve grown yourself, and our gardeners showed that today. The food disappeared in no time – proof that it was tasty as well as colourful.
