Are you ready to become a Trustee of Ridgeline Trust?

Join Ridgeline Trust as a Trustee
Help us grow lives through gardening!

Ridgeline Trust is a charity that provides social and therapeutic horticulture to individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities, as well as other special needs. Located in a peaceful garden near Reading town centre, we offer year-round, professionally-led gardening activities in a safe, supportive environment.

Our horticultural therapists help clients develop their gardening skills, boost their confidence, and provide opportunities for social connection. Our beautiful space is a place of healing, where every gardener can thrive.

About the Role:
We’re looking for a passionate, dedicated Trustee to join our small, dynamic team. As a Trustee, you will work closely with fellow board members to ensure the charity continues to fulfill its mission while supporting our staff and volunteers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Leadership: Help set the goals, values, and strategic direction of Ridgeline Trust.
  • Governance & Policy: Support the development of policies, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with charity law and regulations.
  • Fundraising & Events: Assist with our annual fundraising events, including our Plant Sale and Harvest Fete, and attend networking and fundraising events on behalf of the Trust. This also includes writing of grant applications.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure accountability and maintain robust financial controls to safeguard the charity’s sustainability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Evaluate progress against targets and ensure the charity’s aims are being effectively achieved.
  • Relationship Building: Promote Ridgeline Trust’s interests and reputation, building relationships with external partners, including in the health and social care sector.

Trustees are expected to contribute to both our Planning Group meetings (focused on operational matters) and our Board meetings (focused on governance, finance, and strategic planning). Meetings are held monthly, with occasional email communication in between. Our Annual General Meeting is held in the autumn.

Who We’re Looking For:
We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with:

• Experience as a Trustee: Ideally, you’ll have previous trustee experience, especially with knowledge of charity law and fundraising.
• Health & Social Care Expertise: If you have a background in health or social care, you could play a vital role in helping us strengthen relationships within this sector.
• A Passion for Our Cause: Above all, we’re looking for someone who is passionate about improving the lives of people with special needs through the power of horticulture.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping Ridgeline Trust continue to grow and evolve. If you are committed to helping us improve the lives of others, we would love to hear from you.
