From brambles to oasis
Ridgeline started in 2003 in a disused paddock made available by Reading Borough Council. The land was transformed into the beautiful garden we have today through the hard work of volunteers who cleared and landscaped the site.
Supporting over 50 people every week
Every week, over 50 people benefit from our sessions – working and relaxing together at Ridgeline. Our horticultural therapist team support adults on Mondays and Tuesdays, and work with Addington and Avenue special schools on other days.
Supported by over 75 volunteer hours every week
We couldn’t do what we do without our dedicated volunteers – whether they’re working alongside clients, carrying out maintenance tasks or as trustees running our charity.
And our neighbours get to enjoy the garden too!
We show off our amazing space at our annual plant sale and harvest fete, welcoming more than 300 visitors to our events. Not only an opportunity to help us raise much-needed funds, but a chance to enjoy cake and take home a little piece of Ridgeline with one of our excellent value plants.
Supported by grants, legacies – and guitarists!
To keep running, we need financial support. Some of what we need comes from grants – in recent years, we’ve been supported by organisations including Berkshire Community Foundation, Reading Dispensary Trust, St Laurence Releif in Need Trust, Lions Club of Reading and John Sykes Foundation.
We’re grateful to the families and friends of Phil Banbury, Peter Lawlor and Mary Tigwell, who donated to us in memory of their loved ones.
And we love the fact that people choose to support us through fundraising, from Andy Lawlor running the London Marathon for us to Marc Bartsch performing a guitarathon!
